Photo day is just around the corner!
My name is Rachael, and I am the school portrait photographer with Elena S Blair Photography. I’m excited to provide your school with fine art portraits that capture each child’s authentic personality. Our goal is to create a thoughtful, enjoyable experience for both schools and families, making photo day simple, relaxed, and memorable for everyone.
What Is a Fine Art School Portrait?
Fine art school portraits offer a modern and timeless approach to school photography.
Instead of stiff poses and busy backdrops, children are photographed against a simple neutral background that keeps the focus on them. We encourage natural expressions rather than forced smiles, allowing each child’s personality to shine through.
The result is a collection of classic, authentic portraits that families will treasure for years to come.
What to Expect on Photo Day
On photo day, students will come to the photography area with their class. Each child will spend about one minute being photographed while we chat and capture a few natural expressions.
This relaxed approach helps children feel comfortable and allows us to photograph genuine moments rather than forced smiles. The process is quick, easy, and designed to keep the day running smoothly for both students and teachers.

What Should My Child Wear?
We recommend avoiding large graphics, busy patterns, or neon colors, as these can distract from your child’s portrait and sometimes affect how skin tones appear in photographs.
Solid colors photograph best and help keep the focus on your child. Typically portraits are taken for half body or even shoulders up, tops are the most important part of the outfit.

How Can I View My Child’s Photos?
Within three weeks after photo day, you will receive an email with a link to your school’s online gallery.
Each child will have 2–5 images available in both color and black-and-white, placed in their own album within the gallery so families can easily view and order portraits.
If you would like your child’s album to be password-protected for additional privacy, simply email me at info@lightandgracephotographyva.com before photo day and I will be happy to set that up.
How Do I Place an Order?
Families are free to choose the images they love most.
Prints, canvas wraps, and digital files can be purchased directly through the online gallery. Unlike traditional school photography, there are no pre-purchased packages. All products are offered à la carte, so you only purchase the portraits you truly want.
Please note: the gallery will remain open for 14 days, and all orders must be placed during that time.
How Will I Receive My Order?
Digital files are delivered immediately. Once your purchase is complete, download instructions will be sent directly to your email so you can enjoy and share your images right away.
Print and physical product orders will be delivered to the school approximately three weeks after the gallery closes, and the school will distribute them to students to take home.
Pricing
All printed products are created through a professional photography lab rather than consumer printing shops, ensuring exceptional print quality, accurate colors, and archival materials designed to last for years.
Please note that professional prints may appear different from those produced by consumer labs due to higher color accuracy and printing standards.
